The two years 2020 and 2021 which experienced the pandemic have forced the young people of today to work on bringing about change for common good and social peace. A lot of discussions around the world have shown reactions to financial globalization of the last 30 years.
On November 19 to 21,2020, Pope Francis invited young economists, entrepreneurs, political decision makers, workers from around the world to meet and reflect on how to “change the current economy and give a soul to the economy of tomorrow”. The economy that needs to be rebuilt is one that helps each one to understand the real world from a perspective of reorientation towards the common good and social peace.
In the spirit of what Pope Francis visualizes, on 25th March,2022 four institutions – The Institute of Indian Culture, Swami Vivekanand Night College of Arts and Commerce, St. Arnold’s Night Degree College of Arts and Commerce and B.M. Ruia Girls College collaborated and organized a Joint Conference on the theme “The Economy of Francesco: A Path that must be Built and Travelled for a Sustainable Future”. The Objectives of the Conference were –
to ensure and appreciate the Economy of Francesco and its principles and take active initiatives to achieve a peaceful and united world where we work on new ideas and share innovative strategies for a strong economy.
To involve almost all in society to be committed to being change makers and work for a sustainable and inclusive economy. The Chief Guest for the conference was Prof. Ruby Ojha, Pro – Vice Chancellor, SNDT Women’s University, Keynote Address was given by Dr. Agnelo Menezes Ex – Principal, St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai and the session was conducted by Dr. Caren Rodrigues of St. Joseph’s Institute of Management, Bangalore.
Three parallel paper presentation sessions were conducted. They were chaired by Dr. V.S.Kannan, Dr. Sushmita Dakshini and Dr. Anuja Jayaraman. 27 paper presenters from different parts of the country presented their papers. More than 270 students and teachers attended the conference.
